Structure is a two-part installation, that started as documentation of guerilla projection, inspired by feminist artist Barbara Kruger and conceptual artist Jenny Holzer. Where Kruger’s work offers a critique of American consumerism via text, Structure uses audio-video to revisit how consumerist habits have had inverse effects on political progression and inclusion. This is most evident in the era of white flight, which left no structural support for urban black communities, something recognized by major black political leaders of the time. Structure further warns of the prolonging of instability created through contemporary segregation and the lack of internal and external support.
